Notes of appreciation arrive
daily from charitable
organizations who want to thank provincial employees
for their support and generosity.
Here is a sampling of what provincial employees
collectively are doing:
"Your Donation to the Victoria READ Society,
through the Provincial Employees Community Services
Fund, means the difference between a child
struggling to keep up at school and a self-assured,
successful learner."
N. Claire Rettie
Executive Director, Victoria READ Society
"It is only through the generous support of people,
such as BC's provincial employees, that the
Salvation Army can continue to help those in our
community who are desperately struggling to get by.
Through supportive and non-judgmental care, The
Salvation Army can be effective in providing not
only for a person's immediate and practical needs,
but in helping them to find their way to a more
secure future." Carol Barton
Public Relations Representative, The Salvation Army

…On behalf of all those who will receive services
from a front-line service agency next year, the
United Way would to thank the BC Public Service for
its generosity… Maureen Duncan,
CEO, United Way of Greater Victoria
"Your commitment of one dollar per week for a year
ensures that two people will be fed for a full
month."

"Your donation to Saanich Volunteer Services goes
directly to client services. The provincial
employees' contributions help us fund our Volunteer
Driver mileage reimbursement expenses. Last year,
2442 appointments were made easier for most frail
residents. People who cannot use public transit and
need the support and companionship of our volunteers
were driven a total of 78,000 kilometres. PECSF
donors funded 22,000 of those Kilometres. Together
your contributions are making a significant
difference to people who don't have a relative of
neighbour available to get them out and about." Susan Zerb
Executive Director, Saanich Volunteers Services

"On behalf of Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland, I
would like to say a BIG thank you to dedicated
donors like you; we are able to make plans to serve
more girls next year, with a goal of serving 500
girls by the year 2010. Donations like yours will
give us the means to support more girls through our
traditional Big Sister/Little sister program, the
Study Buddy tutoring program, and other new
mentoring initiatives." Shannon Newman-Bennett
